Vintage 80's B. C. Rich Ironbird N. J. Series 6 String Guitar withCase EXCELLENT
This is the cleanest "left under the bed for years" BC Rich NJ I have ever seen! Being an Ironbird just makes it that much cooler. The neck feels Identical to an older ESP I used to own. It's incredibly smooth and fast. Beautiful action and extremely minimal if any noticeable fret wear.
Very nice figuring in the rosewood board and Maple neck. The fit and finish are as good if not better than any USA bolt on shredder axes I have experienced. The original paint is beautiful and was obviously sprayed and finished by a pro at the factory.
You can see the wood grain when held at an angle under light. The finish reflects like a mirror. Many of the 80's era shredders were way over sprayed and then coated with ridiculous amounts of polyurethane essentially robbing the guitar of any tone wood capabilities. This Ironbird is very resonant and will sustain for days! Absolutely no sloppiness in the neck pocket and no signs of this guitar ever being repaired or modified.
It is a solid 9 on a 10 scale overall. All corners are sharp including the headstock. There are two match head sized paint nicks as pictured. One on the end of the long horn and the other on the tip of the rear horn. These can easily be touched up with a dab of black testors.
No wood chips or repairs. It sounds as incredible as it looks. The pickups sound and look like DiMarzio Super Distortions but I read that BC Rich either used Mighty Mites or these were OEM'd by DiMarzio? Either way, the guitar completely shreds.
The Kahler is also excellent with the original arm. It is currently set up with GHS 9's and extremely low action. Not much more to say. If you've been waiting for one of the cleanest Ironbird NJ's offered for sale.Please ask any questions before purchasing. It will be insured for the full amount. Some folks prefer the neck to be removed and packed separately. Otherwise standard packing would be de tuning and leaving the guitar in one piece.
Placing bubble wrap and foam to stabilize the guitar in the case without pressure on the neck. I just noticed that I had forgotten to replace the two tiny screws for the top of the Kahler lock nut when I removed it for set up and cleaning. I have put them back in! The item "Vintage 80's B.
