Brilliant Antique violin lab. Secondo Biachini 1948- Incredible Tone & Projection
A very special old antique violin labelled "Bianchini Secondo fecit Cremona anno 1948". This may be a short violin by modern standards, but it is faithful to the pattern of a Guarneri del Gesu violin, upon which it is built, with most of that great Cremonese makers violins being little over 350mm. This violin may be short in stature but much like the most famous of all Guarneri del Gesu's violins, the Canon Guarneri, it packs a terrific punch. This is one of those rare violins that as soon as you first set bow hair on strings it genuinely takes your breath away, you know to your core that this violin is special. It has outstanding brilliance, clarity and penetration, together with cascades of overtones that make it sing from the first note, like you are playing in a cathedral. It has a gorgeous deep and persistent G string and an E string that just soars. Like may Guarneri model violins that are true to the great del Gesu's ideals, this violin has bass and treble voices that are distinct in character.
The materials used in the construction of this violin are top draw. The top is made from a lovely fine grained piece of spruce whilst the back is made from a single piece of well figured maple and it is finished in a lustrous traditional varnish with red hints.
This violin has been professionally set up to make the most of its superb tonal qualities, bt also to ensure that it has a great ease of playing, so that you can play effortlessly for long hours. It is truly a joy to perform on a violin like this. The fingerboard has been polished, new fittings added and recently we added a'harp-style' tailpiece, with which it definitely has that X Factor.
A violin of this quality naturally requires the best of strings, our choice here is Evah Pirazzi.
