A good early 19th century violin. Probably Tyrolean or Bavarian, ca. Length of back: 348 mm (a large 7/8 or'lady's size'). Bearing a Antonius and Hieronymus Amati label.

Excellent wood and an exceptionally well-carved scroll. Recently restored and set up by Philip Solomon. According to a dendrochronological analysis by Peter Ratcliff, the latest year rings date to 1799 and 1802 (a report is available from Peter Ratcliff).
