This is a fully carved handmade bass probably from the 1960s but could be 1950s. The bass has been well used and has numerous marks, the G string is a little low hence there is a thin piece of something under the G string at the nut which stops the'sitar' effect. To realise the full potential of this bass, it could be refurbished to a high standard and possibly worth between 3 and 5K, (which was advised by a reputable Orchestral Stringed instrument shop), but it could just be setup and used as is. My son has decided against double bass at the moment, so it has to go or my wife will kill me!
There is also a Bow, which looks about the same age as the bass, I can send a picture if required. I found a similar bass on the internet albeit in better condition and it also has the same design at the top of the body behind the neck as well as the same label. The bass is the popular standard size which is 3/4.The item "Double Bass 1950-60s West Germany" is in sale since Thursday, May 6, 2021.
